Historically, Washington Hospital Center supplied the Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) its chilled water needs. Because of the planned expansion of the Washington Hospital Center, CNMC had to build its own facility within a tight timeframe.
CNMC turned to Harris, a long time preferred mechanical contractor, to serve as the prime contractor for the entire project. A new building structure was built adjacent to the glass facade of the building and the emergency room vehicle ramp.

The new GateWay Community College (GCC) Integrated Education Building was designed to house five separate programs in uniquely recognizable structures that connect, integrate and function as one building. Built to LEED standards, the three-story building features offices for student services, counseling and advising, an indoor/outdoor art room, new library, tutoring labs, additional classrooms and a new science wing.

The University of Kentucky’s (UK) new Pavilion A at the Albert B. Chandler Hospital is the cornerstone of a 20-year construction plan for this academic medical campus of the future. This 1,100,000-square foot hospital was completed in two phases, allowing for the step-by-step replacement of the hospital’s existing pavilion. Areas included an emergency department, surgery center, trauma center, radiology, specialty floors and patient rooms and an auditorium.

The 52-story Devon Tower is one of Oklahoma City’s most visible landmarks and was designed as an office headquarters for Devon Energy, but also a place for people to enjoy dining and views from the upper floors. This high profile, LEED Gold certified skyscraper presented Harris with major challenges. With so many floors to traverse, the coordination of materials and the vertical transportation of work force, became a major organizational hurdle for all the trades to coordinate.

The Solar Energy Research Center (SERC) is a LEED Silver certified laboratory dedicated to finding alternative fuels. Harris was contracted to provide the HVAC ductwork and piping for a new 40,000-square foot facility.

On November 18th, 2016, the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System celebrated the grand opening of its New Orleans medical center with a ribbon cutting. Harris manufactured and installed more than 2,000,000 pounds of ductwork for the new medical campus and provided design-assist services.
