Fairview Lakes Medical Center Expansion

Harris provided mechanical services for the Fairview Lakes Medical Center expansion and renovation. Harris installed four air handling units ranging in size from 12,000 to 20,000 cubic feet per minute. This installation and the associated tie-ins to existing HVAC systems were completed on off-hours to limit any disruption to patient services. Mechanical improvements also included the addition of a second emergency generator, as well as a new chiller and cooling towers.

In addition, Harris removed, replaced and rerouted many parts of the ductwork system to accommodate the hospital expansion. Harris streamlined the installations by manufacturing mechanical systems. To conform to healthcare safety and quality standards, manufactured pieces were wrapped in plastic to prevent dust and dirt contamination.

Overall, the project consisted of a 69,000-square foot expansion including new emergency room space, an imaging department and expanded surgery department. The 47,750-square foot renovation updated the trauma, emergency, urgent care and surgery areas as well as the imaging, dining, dietary and building facilities. Patient rooms, OB-GYN and intensive care units also received renovations.
