Building 101 Mental Health + Research Building

The Building 101 Mental Health and Research Building project scope included all plumbing, medical gases and mechanical work associated with the 203,000 square-foot new building. Harris also installed a central plant upgrade and new utilities in an existing tunnel, all while not impacting the main hospital.

The new multi-story building incorporates 68,000 square feet of space for mental health services with 111,000 square feet dedicated to research and 20,000 square feet for administrative support. The VA Mental Hospital is built with the latest technology including over 800 active and passive chilled beams including 6-way valves, radiant heating, heat recovery and rain water recovery for water closet supply. This building is equipped with 60,000 gallons of rain water storage, 80,000 gallons of fresh water storage, 80,000 gallons of black water storage and 60,000 gallons of generator fuel making this building capable of operating for a minimum of 72 hours with no outside utilities or assistance. This will be a valuable resource should a utility disruption be experience and will serve the local veterans for years to come.
