Abbott Emergency Department Renovation

Harris was hired by JE Dunn Construction for a complete mechanical and plumbing upgrade for the 48,000-square foot emergency department remodel project at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. This project included a new heating water system and upgraded built-in-place custom air handling unit. The existing dual duct was changed out to a new VAV system with return valves and pressure monitoring and control. An upgraded control system and graphics package was also included for the remodeled emergency department and the adjoining Heart Hospital.

Harris provided BIM, cost estimating, HVAC, medical gas piping and plumbing services. Harris also assisted with the phasing plan so it fell in line with the existing mechanical systems and avoided unnecessary hospital shutdowns.
