Abbott East Tower Mechanical Penthouse

Harris installed mechanical systems that were designed to accommodate the anticipated expansion of Abbott Northwestern Hospital into a newly constructed a 6,600-square foot mechanical penthouse built on the rooftop of the hospital’s East Tower.

To meet the aggressive schedule set for the project, Harris utilized its in-house BIM capabilities to create an exact replica of the finished HVAC, piping and plumbing systems, and manufactured all ducts and pipework at the Harris’ Zumbrota fabrication shop. This approach enabled the project team to perform clash detection checks prior to construction, allowed for on-time delivery to the site and reduced hours worked at the job site saving time and money.
